Densities (2009)
for Symphonic Wind Band
Instrumentation
Program Notes
From silence, from nothing, a single note emerges in the clarinets, thin and fragile, colored by the soft beating of the marimba. From this sparse texture, an energy grows throughout the piece—restless, insatiable, churning and palpitating through textures thick and thin—until its force can scarcely be contained.
